Braxton Berrios willing to do ‘whatever whenever’ alongside Miami Dolphins star receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle

The Miami Dolphins bolstered their wide receiver corps by adding Braxton Berrios on a one-year deal last month. He is expected to support Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and it seems the 27-year-old is up to the task.

“They’re truly one of the best wide receiver duos in the league,” Berrios said. “I can’t wait to get in that room and just watch and learn from them and hear how they see the game or how they see the route against this coverage and all the variations.

“So obviously I’m down to do whatever whenever, and I’ve always been that way and maybe, you know, if they take the top off, I’ll work across the middle or I’ll work outside. I’ll really do whatever it takes to win.”

Given that Hill and Waddle are already atop the pecking order of wideouts in Miami, Berrios will likely primarily fill in as a return man and backup receiver for the Dolphins. Fortunately, he seems willing to play any role the coaching staff might assign him, which should surely be music to the ears of the Dolphins faithful.

Berrios will also certainly benefit from Hill and Waddle attracting so much attention from defenses, which is probably a reason he is enthused to be on the same team as the star receivers. Last season saw the duo combine for 3,066 receiving yards, 194 receptions and 15 touchdowns.

Furthermore, having an elite quarterback like Tua Tagovailoa should benefit Berrios. The University of Miami product has expressed how impressed he’s been with the “absolute warrior,” so it seems their partnership is already off to a great start.

Dolphins fans are likely hoping that playing in a loaded team will bring out the best in Berrios. His production last season with the New York Jets wasn’t exactly inspiring, as he finished the 2022 season with 18 receptions for 145 yards and not a single touchdown.

But in the previous two campaigns, Berrios had combined for 83 receptions for 825 yards and five touchdowns. So, he appears to have the potential to become a serviceable player. Perhaps a change in surroundings is what the doctor ordered for the former sixth-round pick.

It remains to be seen if he will have a significant impact on Miami’s offense next season. The team was one of the best squads on that end in the 2022 campaign, scoring 23.4 points per game, which ranked 11th in the league.
