Report: Miami Dolphins bringing back veteran offensive lineman

The 2023 NFL offseason is in full swing, and the Miami Dolphins have already made some big moves. On Wednesday, the team made a smaller, but no less important move by re-signing offensive tackle Kendall Lamm.

Lamm played in — and started — just one game at left tackle in the 2022 NFL season, and it seems likely that he’ll assume a similar role in the 2023 season. For Dolphins fans, there is surely a hope that additional talent will be added to the offensive line.

It is possible, however, that Lamm could challenge for a starting job. The Dolphins are rock solid at left tackle (Terron Armstead), center (Connor Williams) and right guard (Robert Hunt), but there is definitely some potential for competition at left guard and right tackle.

Though Lamm played at left tackle in his sole start for the Dolphins last season, he has some some starting experience as a right tackle. In fact, he started 13 of his 15 games for the Houston Texans in the 2018 season.

All in all, holding onto Lamm isn’t really an exciting move for the Dolphins, but it is an important one.

When it comes to some of the more exciting moves, the Dolphins recently made a move for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams and added quarterback Mike White to back up Tua Tagovailoa.

Miami also decided to bring back running backs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson.

From here on out, it will be interesting to see who the Dolphins manage to add to their roster. Given their light load of draft picks heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, it figures than any real difference makers added from here on out will be added through free agency or trades.

Though, the Dolphins could definitely look to add a Day 1 starter with their highest upcoming pick, which is the No. 51 overall pick of the draft.

The Dolphins have a high priority to better protect Tagovailoa in the upcoming season, so it wouldn’t come as a huge shock if they ended up deciding to spend that second-round pick on a highly graded offensive lineman.
