Former Miami Dolphins FB recounts hilarious story of how Dan Marino congratulated him for 1st NFL TD

Former Miami Dolphins player Rob Konrad recently told an awesome story about how quarterback Dan Marino congratulated him on his first NFL touchdown.

“My most favorite memory of playing in the NFL was that first game,” Konrad said. “I was a nervous wreck, but I ended up scoring a go-ahead touchdown, which calmed my nerves quite a bit.”

Konrad explained that Marino signed a photo for him, and the Hall of Famer wrote an amusing message.

“He signed it, ‘Rob, congratulations on your first NFL touchdown, my 409th,'” Konrad said.

The 1999 season was Konrad’s rookie campaign, and it was also Marino’s last season in the NFL. It’s cool that the two individuals were able to create some memories during the lone season in which their NFL careers crossed paths.

Konrad ended up playing in six NFL seasons. He finished with six receiving touchdowns, but he’ll surely always remember that first one a little clearer than the rest.

For his career, Konrad totaled 854 receiving yards and 114 rushing yards. He played all of his NFL games with the Dolphins after being selected by the team in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft.

These days, the Dolphins would love nothing more than to be as successful as they were during the Marino era. The 2022 Dolphins are hoping to put together a special season and take Miami to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 campaign.

The organization hasn’t made it to a Super Bowl since Marino was in the league. It’s certainly time for that to change, and there are plenty of Dolphins players, both past and present, who are hoping for big things in the 2022 campaign.
