Though the Miami Dolphins’ 2022 training camp is still quite young, early returns have been incredibly positive thus far.
Over the weekend, a video depicting Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa throwing a perfect 65-yard bomb to newly acquired star Tyreek Hill went viral on social media.
Now, running back Myles Gaskin has come forward to issue a rather dramatic statement regarding the offensive unit.
While it’s still early, it’s great to see that there is a lot of excitement around the offense right now. After all, the general consensus is that the Dolphins will only go as far as their offense can take them in the 2022 season.
The defense is already considered to be an above-average, if not elite, unit. The offense has lagged behind in recent years. If that can change for the better, the Dolphins could very well be a playoff team.
As for Gaskin, he’s facing a lot of competition this season. He’s already contended with a running back by committee throughout his time with the Dolphins, and the additions of Sony Michel and Raheem Mostert are only going to add to the competition at the position.
Last season, Gaskin played in 17 games and started 10 of those contests. He finished the season with 173 carries for 612 yards and three touchdowns. He added 49 receptions for 234 yards and four touchdowns.
His ability to catch balls out of the backfield should ensure that he gets a fair amount of playing time in the upcoming season. That is especially true if the Dolphins offense is as fast-paced and fluid as Gaskin and many others expect it to be.
