Mike McDaniel says he’s been ‘very impressed’ by UDFA RB ZaQuandre White

The Miami Dolphins only made a few selections in the 2022 NFL Draft after trading away several picks in a deal for superstar receiver Tyreek Hill.

For that reason, the Dolphins are surely looking for some diamonds in the rough within the group of undrafted free agents that they have brought in this offseason.

As it turns out, the team may have already identified one such diamond in ZaQuandre White. New Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel spoke with members of the media ahead of Tuesday’s practice and praised White.

Though White didn’t see a ton of playing time during his collegiate career, he obviously did enough to catch the attention of the Dolphins.

In the 2021 season, he rushed the ball 88 times for 583 yards and two touchdowns at the University of South Carolina. Those numbers don’t jump off the page, but what does impress is the fact that he averaged 6.6 yards per carry.

He used his size to his advantage at the collegiate level. He currently checks in at 6-foot-0 and 210 pounds. Of course, his size won’t be as much of an advantage in the NFL. However, he is still quite large for a running back.

What’s great about the NFL offseason and preseason is that relatively unknown players like White get major opportunities to impress their coaches and earn a spot in the league.

White’s name will surely be one to follow for the next couple of months to see if he can manage to continue to impress McDaniel and other Dolphins coaches. If he does, he may eventually hear his name called on Sundays.
