Report: Cleveland Browns pluck longtime member of Miami Dolphins organization

It seems like the Miami Dolphins are going to lose another key member of the organization.

Dolphins college scout Chris Buford is reportedly expected to sign with the Cleveland Browns.

Buford had been with the Dolphins since 2012. He will end his tenure in Miami after having served the organization for 10 years. During that span, the team compiled a record of 76-85.

The longtime Dolphins scout is not the first front office member to leave the franchise this offseason. Earlier this month, former assistant director of pro scouting Chris Rossetti was hired by Joe Schoen, the new general manager of the New York Giants.

Another college scout left town a couple of weeks ago. Lenny McGill signed with the Las Vegas Raiders to become their West Coast scout.

Despite losing the former members, the Dolphins will still surely be looking to make some noise in the 2022 campaign, especially after a series of key offseason moves.

One of the most important acquisitions the organization made in recent months was hiring new coach Mike McDaniel. The 39-year-old is an offensive-minded coach who is expected to help improve the team’s production on that end of the field. Miami has consistently ranked near the bottom of several offensive metrics in the past seasons.

Fans are also hoping that McDaniel will be able to bring out the best in young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the franchise’s No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. McDaniel is reportedly “very high” on Tagovailoa. Only time will tell if their partnership proves to be a success.
