Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury says the Dolphins ‘hit a home run’ by signing RB Chase Edmonds

The Miami Dolphins have made multiple big acquisitions this offseason as they try to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 campaign.

The signing of running back Chase Edmonds was one of Miami’s biggest moves so far. Edmonds spent the last four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

For three of those seasons, Edmonds was coached in Arizona by Kliff Kingsbury. On Tuesday, Kingsbury offered some lofty praise for Edmonds and said that the Dolphins “hit a home run” by signing the 25-year-old.

“We love Chase,” said Kingsbury. “He can do it all. We thought he was a first- and second-down back. And on third down, he’s one of the best receiving backs I’ve been around. Work ethic, mental toughness, conscientious. He prepares. I can’t say enough good things. Miami hit a home run with that one.”

Last season was arguably one of the better ones of Edmonds’ career so far. He ran the ball 116 times for 592 yards and two touchdowns. The former fourth-round pick was also able to catch 43 passes for 311 yards.

It seems like Edmonds is going to have a nice role in Miami’s new offense under first-year head coach Mike McDaniel.

In addition to Edmonds, the Dolphins have gone out and added Tyreek Hill, Terron Armstead, Connor Williams, Raheem Mostert and Cedrick Wilson Jr. this offseason in order to bolster their offense. Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has a solid group of guys around him now.

During the 2021 campaign, Miami started off 1-7 before rattling off seven straight wins to get itself back into the playoff picture. Of course, the Dolphins wound up falling short of the postseason.

Edmonds will hope to help the Dolphins make it to the playoffs during the 2022 season. Throughout his career, the Fordham University product has rushed for 1,551 yards and nine touchdowns.
