Report: Brian Daboll interviewed ‘well’ with the Miami Dolphins

It’s a pivotal time for the Miami Dolphins, who are searching for their next head coach.

After the surprise firing of Brian Flores, the organization is looking to hire someone who will take the team to the next level.

Brian Daboll is a candidate who seemingly has a solid chance at landing the Dolphins’ vacant position, and he reportedly interviewed “well” with Miami.

“If Denver were to take [Dan] Quinn off the market, that could create some tension on Daboll — I’m told he interviewed well with the Dolphins, and his background with the organization, having been there in 2011, helps his cause,” wrote Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

This is certainly a notable development for the Dolphins, and it’s a good sign for Daboll if he wants to end up with Miami.

Earlier this month, a betting website listed Daboll as the favorite to become the next head coach of the Dolphins. However, nothing is for sure when it comes to Miami’s vacancy.

Daboll’s Buffalo Bills saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday, as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs eliminated Buffalo in overtime. Daboll, who is obviously Buffalo’s offensive coordinator, had to be pleased with the way his offense played. Buffalo scored 36 points despite dropping the contest.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, are watching the NFL playoffs from home this season. They are certainly hoping that will not be the case next season, and perhaps Daboll will be the guy to get the organization over the hump.

After starting 1-7, Miami finished the 2021 regular season with a 9-8 record, giving the team its second straight winning campaign. The Dolphins last made the playoffs in the 2016 season but took an early exit.
