Report: New York Giants expected to show interest in 2 Miami Dolphins head-coaching candidates

The New York Giants are reportedly expected to show interest in a few head-coaching candidates that have ties to the Miami Dolphins.

New York is expected to request permission to speak with former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores for its opening as well as Dan Quinn and Brian Daboll.

Quinn and Daboll are potential candidates to take over for Flores in Miami. Both of them have already conducted interviews with the Dolphins.

The Giants fired Joe Judge after a disappointing 2021 season in which they went just 4-13. New York dealt with injuries to Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones throughout the campaign, but Judge did not do enough with the team during his time there to keep his position for a third season.

The Dolphins are looking for a head coach to replace Flores and help the team make the postseason in the 2022 campaign.

The Dolphins went 10-6 under Flores in the 2020 season, but they missed the playoffs after losing in the final week of the season to the Buffalo Bills.

Miami then began the 2021 season just 1-7 before winning seven straight games to get itself back in the playoff hunt. The Dolphins ultimately missed the postseason with a 9-8 record, and Flores was dismissed as the team’s head coach.

It will be interesting to see what direction the Giants go in, as they hired Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen as the team’s new general manager on Friday.

It’s certainly possible that Schoen brings Daboll, the Bills’ offensive coordinator, with him to New York.
