Report: Miami Dolphins sign 2 promising youngsters

Though the Miami Dolphins’ 2021 season is over, that doesn’t mean their determination to improve has come to an end.

On Thursday, the team announced that two youngsters, Gerrid Doaks and Quincy Wilson, were signed to contracts.

Doaks was selected by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Prior to joining the NFL’s ranks, he starred at the University of Cincinnati.

As for Wilson, he’s already got several NFL seasons under his belt. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Colts, and he played with the New York Jets in 2020.

Wilson later joined the New York Giants, but he unfortunately missed the entire 2021 regular season after being put on injured reserve in August.

While neither player figures to change the trajectory of the entire franchise, it is good to see that the team’s front office continues to seek out young talent. That is especially true as the team undergoes a major upheaval.

Shortly following the end of the 2021 regular season, former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores was relieved of his duties. That move occurred despite the fact that Flores had managed to lead the Dolphins to winning seasons in each of the past two campaigns.

Going forward, it will be fascinating to see if any other big moves are made. Though the NFL playoffs are currently in full swing, there’s no doubt that everyone in Miami is already looking forward to next season.
