Report: Chances of Miami Dolphins chasing Deshaun Watson ‘greatly diminished’ after firing of Brian Flores

With the Brian Flores era ending for the Miami Dolphins, it sounds like there has been an important development in the ongoing Deshaun Watson trade rumors.

The Dolphins’ chances of pursuing Watson have “greatly diminished” with Flores no longer being part of the organization.

Interestingly, it seems like this development has more to do with the Dolphins’ feelings on a potential deal as opposed to Watson’s stance on one. Flores was seemingly interested in the idea of trading for the Houston Texans quarterback, but with the Dolphins ending Flores’ tenure with the organization, he obviously no longer has a say in the matter.

It looks like Miami will head into next season with Tua Tagovailoa leading the offense. The youngster will look to build off of some of the growth he displayed this season.

In the 2021 campaign, Tagovailoa appeared in 13 games. He completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 2,653 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also threw 10 interceptions.

The Dolphins narrowly missed the playoffs despite putting together a massive win streak to get back in the postseason conversation. Miami wound up with a 9-8 record when all was said and done, giving the organization its second straight winning season.

The hope is that Tagovailoa will help the Dolphins get over the hump next season and into the playoffs. The 23-year-old certainly knows how to win, something he put on full display during his time at the University of Alabama.

The next step for him is to help his current team reach the postseason at the NFL level.
