Report: Miami Dolphins request to interview Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn

The Miami Dolphins have been busy sending out requests to interview candidates for the team’s head coaching vacancy.

The Dolphins have already requested interviews with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll as well as San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

Now, Miami has set its eyes on another candidate. This time, the team has requested permission to interview Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Quinn has been receiving interest from multiple teams with head coaching vacancies. He is currently in his first season as the defensive coordinator of the Cowboys.

The 51-year-old had previously been the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons before being fired after Week 5 of the 2020 season.

Quinn went 43-42 during his time with the Falcons, leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance during the 2016 season. During that season’s Super Bowl, the Falcons were up 28-3 against the New England Patriots before losing the game 34-28 in overtime.

Quinn also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks as their defensive coordinator before accepting the Falcons’ head coaching position in 2015.

Interestingly, Quinn spent some time with the Dolphins earlier in his coaching career as a defensive line coach.

Miami is searching for a new head coach following the surprising firing of Brian Flores, who went 24-25 during his time with the Dolphins.

After starting off the 2021 season 1-7, the Dolphins rattled off seven straight wins to get themselves back into the playoff picture. Of course, the team wound up being eliminated before its Week 18 victory against the Patriots.

Miami has not made the postseason since the 2016 campaign.
