The COVID-19 hits keep coming for the Miami Dolphins.
A third Dolphins running back has reportedly tested positive for the virus. This time, it’s Phillip Lindsay.
The statuses of Lindsay, Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed are now all up in the air with the Dolphins preparing to face the New York Jets in Week 15. The good news is that all three players will have a chance to “test out” of protocols before the matchup with the Jets arrives.
COVID-19 issues are continuing to cause problems across multiple pro sports leagues. The Dolphins are unfortunately getting a firsthand experience of what it’s like to be impacted by virus issues this season.
The Jets aren’t exactly an intimidating opponent, but if Miami enters its matchup with New York with this brutal running back situation, then the Jets might be able to deal Miami a devastating loss.
The timing is tough. The Dolphins can’t afford many (if any) hiccups for the remainder of the season if they want to secure a playoff bid.
Miami is 6-7 on the season with four games remaining. The team has done a fantastic job of getting itself back in the playoff picture, but the job isn’t finished.
A playoff bid for Miami this season would mark the organization’s first trip to the postseason since the 2016 campaign.
The Dolphins will need to finish strong in order to have a chance to reach the playoffs. Miami has no choice but to take things one week at a time right now.
