Report: Another Miami Dolphins running back tests positive for COVID-19

The Miami Dolphins are in the midst of a huge playoff push, and if the dominoes fall the right way, it seems like the squad could find itself stunning the NFL world by nabbing a postseason bid.

Unfortunately, the dominoes haven’t exactly been kind to Miami. After news broke on Friday that running back Myles Gaskin tested positive for COVID-19, the team has now lost another player to a positive test.

This time, it’s running back Salvon Ahmed.

The Dolphins are now down multiple running backs due to COVID-19. Miami’s bye week certainly seems to be here at a good time, but it remains to be seen how shorthanded the Dolphins will be next weekend against the New York Jets.

Ahmed has appeared in 12 games this season. He has totaled 149 rushing yards on 54 carries, giving him an average of 2.8 yards per carry.

Last season, he was more efficient, as he rushed for 319 total yards and three touchdowns on 75 carries. It was his rookie campaign, and he averaged 4.3 yards per carry.

The Dolphins would certainly like to avoid any further COVID-19 issues, but with the way the virus has been spreading throughout pro sports teams lately, that seems like far from a sure thing.

The hope is that Miami will be in good enough shape from a health and availability standpoint to finish the season strong. The Dolphins have four games left, and if they find a way to perhaps run the table, it seems like the team could find itself in the postseason.
