The Miami Dolphins reportedly are “all in” in trying to acquire Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Watson, 25, has made it clear that he no longer wants to play for the Texans, but they are not shopping him at this time.
The Dolphins currently have Tua Tagovailoa, the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, as their starter, but it seems the team believes Watson would be an upgrade.
Right now, Watson is the much better player, as he threw for 4,823 yards, 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions last season.
Tagovailoa made nine starts as a rookie, leading the Dolphins to the 6-3 record. However, he threw for just 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions during the 2020 season.
If the Dolphins are “all in” on Watson, they would likely have to trade multiple first-round picks, Tagovailoa and potentially more draft capital.
Miami has the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and it could be one of the best assets Houston could acquire if it deals Watson.
Watson signed a four-year, $156 million extension with Houston last year.
He is under contract until after the 2025 season and has a no-trade clause in his contract.
