Report: Encouraging update on Ereck Flowers’ status for Week 14 unveiled

Miami Dolphins guard Ereck Flowers’ agent hinted that the lineman could be back for this coming week’s game, while a more general expectation is that he’ll be back later this month.

Drew Rosenhaus, who appears on a regular segment for Fox affiliate WSVN, indicated that he has spoken with Flowers, who is not concerned about the sprained ankle he suffered on Sunday.

“Ereck told me he’s hopeful he can play next week,” Rosenhaus said.

Flowers was carted off the field after just 14 plays, which led to some concern about whether he would even be able to return this season.

Following his absence, fellow starting guard Jesse Davis came off the bench to play at the right guard position, while rookie Solomon Kindley shifted from right guard to left guard to replace Flowers. The Dolphins bounced back from an early 7-0 deficit to win 19-7, though the game was marred by a brawl between the two teams.

Getting Flowers back as soon as possible is something the Dolphins need, given their remaining four games.

The first of those will be one of the more challenging, considering that the Dolphins will be hosting the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The last time the Chiefs played at Hard Rock Stadium was last February when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers to capture their first championship in 50 years.
