Brian Flores provides injury update on Miami Dolphins LT Austin Jackson

An update on the rehabilitation of Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Austin Jackson’s injured foot was offered by head coach Brian Flores.

The 18th overall selection in April’s draft, Jackson was the second of three first-round picks by the Dolphins and quickly moved up the depth chart into a starting role on the offensive line.

However, Jackson suffered his injury in a Week 4 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks and was subsequently placed on the injured reserve list.

At the time of that transaction, Flores offered no hint as to how long Jackson would be out, but soon indicated that he would likely return during the 2020 season.

Jackson had been a key part of the improved offensive line of the Dolphins, which had allowed six sacks in the first four games. With Jackson out of the lineup, the line has allowed four sacks in the team’s last two contests, though the Dolphins have won both games.

Having played collegiately at the University of Southern California, Jackson was the latest prize from a school that has sent countless offensive linemen to the NFL.

With the Dolphins at 3-3 on the year and rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa set to make his first NFL start on Sunday, Jackson’s return can’t come soon enough
