Cris Carter idenitifies several similarities between Tua Tagovailoa and Drew Brees

Miami Dolphins fans have high hopes for rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and one NFL Hall of Famer seems to share that optimism.

Former superstar wide receiver Cris Carter said on “The Rich Eisen Show” that Tagovailoa reminds him of a certain future Hall of Famer for the New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees.

“There are certain people that are born for certain things,” Carter said. “And this kid is meant to be — Drew Brees was meant to lead an NFL team, right? You know Drew. This dude, ‘is a dude’s dude.’ And Tua is the same way. He’s funny, he’s charismatic. Guys on the team love him. He’s got special, special arm talent.”

Brees was originally drafted by the then-San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Within a few years, he became one of the better quarterbacks in the league.

Brees has led the league several times in numerous categories, and he has a Super Bowl championship and Super Bowl MVP to his name as well.

Tagovailoa finally got his first action in the final minutes of Miami’s Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets. He only got off two passes, but both were successful.

Now that he has been named the team’s starting QB moving forward, he’ll have the opportunity to become the best version of himself. If that means he’ll become a facsimile of Brees, Fins fans have plenty to look forward to for a long time.
