Tagovailoa made his NFL debut in Sunday’s win over the New York Jets. He completed both of his pass attempts for nine yards.
The Dolphins selected Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The move comes as a bit of a surprise, since Miami has gone 3-3 under veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The Dolphins are currently on their bye week, but Tagovailoa will be the starter when they take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8.
