Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa celebrated his first appearance in an NFL game by FaceTiming his parents on the field after the Dolphins’ 24-0 win over the New York Jets on Sunday had ended.
Tagovailoa entered the contest with 2:27 left in the game, with his first play call being a handoff to running back Matt Breida.
At the time Tagovailoa appeared in the game, the Dolphins were comfortably ahead, with the rookie completing both of his two passes on the day for a total of nine yards.
The cameo appearance allowed Tagovailoa to finally get his feet wet in NFL game action, but it’s only a snapshot of what he and the Dolphins expect in the years ahead.
The Dolphins, who evened their record at 3-3, jumped out to a 21-0 lead and were never really threatened by the winless Jets, who fell to 0-6 on the year.
