Report: Miami Dolphins Release Jake Rudock, Sign New QB3 to Roster

On Monday, the Miami Dolphins released quarterback Josh Rudock and signed another signal-caller, Reid Sinnett, to take Rudock’s spot on the team’s practice roster.

Rudock was seemingly safe as part of the Dolphins organization after Josh Rosen was cut, with Sinnett’s release by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ironically resulting from their subsequent signing of Rosen last week.

Sinnett had been signed by the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in April out of the University of San Diego.

A native of Iowa, the 23-year-old Sinnett threw for 3,538 yards last season for the Toreros, connecting for 32 touchdown passes and tossing 10 interceptions.

Sinnett offers the Dolphins a player they can try to develop this season. The 6-foot-4 rookie is not expected to see action unless injuries to either Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tua Tagovailoa occur.

Rudock never appeared in a game while with the Dolphins, a tenure that first began when he was signed by the team in January of last year.

Originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Rudock spent three seasons in the Lions organization. During that span, he only appeared in three games before being let go by the team.

The Dolphins will look to pick up their first win on the season on Sunday in their home-opener against the Buffalo Bills.
