Report: Multiple Miami Dolphins Players Have Donated Plasma to Help Fight COVID-19

Multiple Miami Dolphins players have donated convalescent plasma after recovering from COVID-19, the team announced on Thursday.

The two players pictured donating are rookie running back Malcolm Perry and linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel.

Perry was drafted by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft while Van Ginkel was selected by the Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Perry was glad that he had the opportunity to donate.

“I was surprised initially but was happy because I was presented with the opportunity to give back and donate plasma and help people in need,” said Perry. “Being able to give back to people who weren’t fortunate enough to react the same way you did to the virus and give back to the community was important.”

The Dolphins have three players on the NFL’s COVID-19 list, which is for players that have tested positive for the coronavirus or have been exposed to someone who has it. Those three players are Benito Jones, who has already been activated off the list, Blake Ferguson and Cordrea Tankersley.

It’s good to see that Perry and Van Ginkel are leading the way by donating their plasma. Hopefully, they inspire others who have recovered from the coronavirus to do the same.
