The Miami Dolphins reportedly have received calls about quarterback Josh Rosen’s availability this offseason.
“In Miami, they’ve got three different quarterbacks,” NFL Network’s Michael Giardi said. “Ryan Fitzpatrick is the incumbent. He led them in passing, actually led them in rushing last year.
“Fitzpatrick coming back again for another season. Will he be the tutor for Tua [Tagovailoa] or will he be the guy that carries the job all year long? Fitzpatrick said, ‘Look I’m here because I want to play and that is what I’m planning to do. I’m planning on playing.’”
Giardi also mentioned Fitzpatrick’s willingness to allow both Tagovailoa and Rosen to pick his brain and use him as a resource to help their development.
However, there is only one spot available to start in Miami, and teams have checked in to see if Rosen is available via trade.
“Teams called the Miami Dolphins about Rosen’s availability this offseason,” Giardi said. “And thus far, the Dolphins are in no hurry to trade him.”
The Dolphins could opt to keep all three quarterbacks on the roster, but by drafting Tagovailoa, they have sent a message to Rosen and Fitzpatrick that they may not be in the team’s future plans.
