Chris Grier Offers Message to Miami Dolphins Fans Begging Team to Pick Tua Tagovailoa

If social media is of any indication, fans desperately want the Miami Dolphins to select Tua Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert to be the team’s quarterback of the future.

In response to those pleas, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier recently offered a message to fans who are anxious about what the upcoming NFL draft may render.

“I would say we’ve done a lot of things here with us and spent a lot of time — Brian [Flores], the coaching staff, scouts — we’ve spent a lot of time going through it,” Grier said. “We’ve spent a lot of time with the players. We’ve spent a lot of time doing it. We’re going to do what we feel is best for the Miami Dolphins. I would hope that they have some trust in what we’re doing, they believe in what we’re doing.

“They’re a passionate fan base. I hear it from people at the grocery store. The pest control guy was spraying for ants at the house and he was here asking me Dolphins questions the whole time. It’s good. My wife and kids are worse than you guys. Every day they pop in my office and go, ‘Who are we talking?’ It’s a fun, exciting thing. For us, we’ll do what’s best for the Dolphins and we feel good about the process.”

There’s no doubt that both Herbert and Tagovailoa are intriguing prospects.

Herbert stands at 6-foot-6 and has shown elite arm talent throughout his collegiate career. With that being said, the primary concern surrounding Herbert deals with his lack of experience under center.

Last season, he threw 32 touchdowns and just six interceptions with a completion percentage of 66.8.

As for Tagovailoa, he may very well be the most physically gifted player in the draft, but injury concerns have marred his perceived value.

He threw 33 touchdowns and just three interceptions with a 71.4 percent completion percentage last season before a serious hip injury ended his year prematurely.

The truth is that both quarterbacks come with their fair share of risk.

Hopefully, whatever decision the Dolphins ultimately make ends up being the right one.
