Fans of the Miami Dolphins are still trying to figure out who their team will pick with the No.5 overall selection in the upcoming NFL draft.
As the selection of a quarterback seems a near certainty, the two most realistic options are Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert.
One recent report indicates that the Dolphins may be zeroing in on Herbert as their top choice.
“No team has done more work on Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert over the past two years than the Dolphins and that continued recently when Miami held a video-conference session with him, according to a college football source,” Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported.
“From people who have spoken to members of the Dolphins’ front office, what’s known is the Dolphins appreciate Herbert’s skill set, his size (6-6), his build and his arm strength.”
Though Tagovailoa may be the more physically gifted option, injury concerns have cast a large shadow on his value.
As for Herbert, he’s a physical specimen and seems poised to become a prototypical NFL quarterback if he can realize his full potential.
At 6-foot-6 and 236 pounds, he’s got the frame that most NFL teams dream of when it comes to a starting quarterback.
Herbert had a fantastic final year at the University or Oregon, throwing 32 touchdowns to just six interceptions with a completion percentage of 66.8.
With the draft inching closer with each passing day, Herbert and Tagovailoa seem to be like the two most likely picks at No. 5.
Who actually ends up playing in South Florida remains to be seen.
