Report: Miami Dolphins Will Attempt to Trade With Cincinnati Bengals for No. 1 Overall Pick

The Miami Dolphins are apparently seeking to trade up in next month’s NFL draft, with a new report indicating that they’re eyeing the top overall pick, currently held by the Cincinnati Bengals.

The fact that the Dolphins are loaded with high picks over the next two years conceivably increases the chances of a deal being struck with the Bengals.

In this year’s first round, the Dolphins are in possession of the fifth, 18th and 26th oveall picks. The latter two selections came in the trades of Minkah Fitzpatrick and Laremy Tunsil, respectively.

In all likelihood, moving up four spots will require the Dolphins to trade away at least two of those first-rounders and likely more.

The Dolphins would be looking for a potential franchise quarterback if a deal is made, with Louisiana State University signal-caller Joe Burrow the apparent odds-on favorite to be chosen.

One reason why the Bengals may reject any such offer from other teams is because they’re also looking to take a quarterback.

The only previous time the Dolphins had the top overall pick was in 2008, following a miserable 1-15 campaign the year before. They ended up choosing Jake Long, an offensive tackle out of the University of Michigan.
