Even before Cutler was signed two weeks ago by the Dolphins to a one-year, $10 million contract, the mainstream media was seemingly fixated on Miami potentially signing free agent and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to a deal after Ryan Tannehill tore his ACL at practice on Aug. 3rd.
When the Dolphins signed Cutler over Kaepernick, ESPN personalities Stephen A. Smith and Will Cain engaged in a very heated debate on “First Take” over the decision to bring Cutler to Miami instead of the still-unemployed Kaepernick.
Yikes. Smith continues to be one of Cutler’s biggest critics following his eight seasons with the Bears, and the ESPN personality didn’t hesitate to take jabs at the quarterback following his brief Dolphins debut last week in a 31-7 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens at Hard Rock Stadium.
