Report: Dolphins had busy scouting weekend in Week 14 of CFB season

The 2025 college football campaign is winding down, as its Week 14 slate is in the books, and the Miami Dolphins’ scouting department was reportedly in attendance at a number of games this weekend.

First, it was reported that the Dolphins were one of the teams represented at Friday’s matchup between Purdue University and Indiana University. The Hoosiers picked up a wire-to-wire 56-3 victory in that contest, and the top performer for either side might just have been Indiana running back Roman Hemby, who ran for 152 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries.

Later, the Dolphins were reportedly represented at Saturday’s bouts between Clemson University and the University of South Carolina as well as the University of Pittsburgh and University of Miami. The Tigers and Hurricanes came out victorious in those games.

The organization very well might’ve sent scouts to other games as well. All season long, the team has been scouting college talent.

It makes sense that those efforts continued this weekend with how many marquee matchups there were and how close the college season is to ending. But it still appears to be very much up in the air as to where in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft the Dolphins will pick.

For a time, it seemed as though they had a chance to land the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. But ever since getting off to a 1-6 start this season, the Dolphins are winners of three of their last four games and could very well extend their current winning streak to three on Sunday. As of this writing, they lead the New Orleans Saints.

A win over the Saints would improve Miami’s record to 5-7 on the season, and while that’s not really a mark to celebrate, it would signify quite a turnaround for a squad that looked dead in the water mere weeks ago. It would also make the possibility that the Dolphins rally back from their abysmal start to the campaign to steal a playoff berth a little bit more realistic.
