Tyreek Hill appears to issue immediate reaction to Chris Grier news

Thursday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens marked the Miami Dolphins’ final game with Chris Grier as their general manager.

After he served as Miami’s general manager since 2016 and held a role in the organization since 2000, the two sides mutually agreed to part ways on Friday morning.

Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill didn’t wait long at all to seemingly issue a reaction to the Grier news on social media. Around 20 minutes after the news surfaced, he made a post containing a sad-looking emoji on X.

Of course, Grier was the Dolphins’ general manager when they traded with the Kansas City Chiefs for Hill ahead of the 2022 campaign.

While Grier made his fair share of questionable moves during his stint as general manager, the acquisition of Hill was arguably one of his better decisions. Miami didn’t give up a single player in exchange for the star receiver and relinquished a slew of draft picks instead.

Hill’s Dolphins tenure has been far from perfect (he’s been in his fair share of off-the-field drama and suffered a season-ending injury this season), but he’s ultimately been one of the best receivers in franchise history when healthy.

He’s put together two seasons with the Dolphins where he’s racked up more than 1,700 receiving yards, and he led the league in that stat in the 2023 season. Plus, he was on track to accumulate quadruple digits in receiving yards again this season before his campaign got cut short by his devastating injury.

It’s understandable that Hill might be sad to see Grier go considering their history together, but such a parting of ways was probably in the Dolphins’ best interest. It shouldn’t be ruled out that the Dolphins will make even more major changes at some point, though head coach Mike McDaniel appears to be safe for now.

With how poorly the 2025 season has panned out for the Dolphins, they needed some change. Champ Kelly is now Miami’s interim general manager, and hopefully the Grier move will prove to be a step in the right direction for the team to get back to respectability.
