Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has already played three seasons with the team, and with the 2025 offseason just about over, the Dolphins have seemingly opted to keep him around for a fourth campaign. Still, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that at least a handful of squads around the league are monitoring Hill’s future.
“I have talked to a few teams who are at least monitoring his future a little bit,” Fowler said. “Could he be a potential trade target? Now, I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, ‘No, we’re not trading Tyreek Hill.’ But they just wonder, is he going to be available? It could be wishful thinking, maybe they want him to be available. But he’s a player when I bring up to teams, ‘Hey, who is sort of a trade target you’re watching?’ they bring up Tyreek Hill. So, we’ll see. He’s a big option for Tua [Tagovailoa], that would be a major move if they did move away from him.”
Hill was traded to Miami before the 2022 campaign, and the Dolphins relinquished five draft picks โ including one first-round pick and one second-round selection โ in exchange for the eight-time Pro Bowler. Before he was dealt to the Dolphins, Hill spent his first six seasons in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs and won a Super Bowl while playing alongside star signal-caller Patrick Mahomes.
Hill could feasibly be one more disappointing season away from his stint in Miami coming to an end. He had his least productive season in quite some time in the 2024 campaign, as he totaled just 959 receiving yards in his third season as a Dolphin. By Hill’s standards, that’s a subpar campaign, considering he totaled 1,700-plus receiving yards in each of his opening two seasons with the team and led the NFL with 1,799 in the 2023 season.
While he is not far removed from an underwhelming season, there are reasons to believe he could potentially have a bounce-back campaign in the 2025 season. For one, Hill’s health now seems to have improved after he underwent surgery to repair a nagging wrist injury earlier this offseason. Medical professionals reportedly advised Hill to get season-ending surgery ahead of the 2024 campaign, but he opted to play through the injury.
The veteran is currently dealing with an oblique issue, but with any luck, that will only be a short-term injury. Hopefully for the sake of his future in Miami, he will make up for his lackluster 2024 season with a majorly productive 2025 campaign and reinsert himself in the conversation for the best wide receiver in all of football. Conversely, trade rumors regarding Hill may proliferate if he plays at a similar level to how he did last season.
