Report: Dolphins had dinner with quarterback Quinn Ewers ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is now coming up on the horizon. Miami Dolphins fans will have to wait just weeks until the start of the draft on April 24.

With the draft looming, the Dolphins reportedly had dinner with one of the better quarterbacks in all of college football last season, Quinn Ewers. Ewers played four combined seasons of college football at the University of Texas at Austin as well as Ohio State University.

“The Dolphins have been spending time with quarterbacks in this draft class, including a dinner with Texas’ Quinn Ewers,” Barry Jackson wrote.

Ewers suited up in 14 games with the Longhorns in the 2024 season, and the team ended the campaign with a record of 13-3. In his swan song at the collegiate level, he amassed 3,472 passing yards and led his conference with a whopping 31 passing touchdowns. However, it’s worth noting that he finished tops in his conference in interceptions as well with 12.

For as great as Ewers played with the Longhorns last season, it seems quite possible that he will be waiting a bit before he hears his name called in the 2025 NFL Draft. A recent scouting report from Pro Football Focus gave him a draft grade of a fifth- or sixth-round pick.

Interestingly, the Dolphins are slated to have two picks in the fifth round of the upcoming draft. Miami holds the 150th and 155th selections, though the team doesn’t own a single pick in the sixth round.

The Dolphins would be wise to draft a quarterback at some point in the draft who can hold down the fort for Miami at the position if the injury bug comes back to bite Tua Tagovailoa once again in the 2025 season. Tagovailoa missed six games for Miami in the 2024 campaign, and the Dolphins’ offensive attack struggled mightily without him on the field.

The Dolphins mustered just 13.3 points per contest in the games Tagovailoa sat out last season, and Miami lost all but two of those contests.

Only time will tell if the Dolphins will draft Ewers in light of having dinner with the youngster, but he’s a name Dolphins fans should keep an eye out for as the beginning of the 2025 NFL Draft further approaches.
