Dolphins insider reveals that Terron Armstead is expected to retire

Miami Dolphins tackle Terron Armstead has been a consistent presence on the team’s offensive line in recent years. He has played the last three seasons in Miami and has started 10-plus games in every one of those campaigns.

However, Dolphins insider Omar Kelly has hinted that Miami might have to navigate the 2025 season without Armstead on the team. Kelly revealed that the expectation is that Armstead will soon retire from the game of football.

“[Will] Campbell would fit perfectly on Miami’s offensive line playing next to Patrick Paul,” Kelly wrote. “With Terron Armstead expected to retire, Campbell would be a great insurance policy if Paul struggles at left tackle.”

Armstead’s availability with the Dolphins in the 2024 season was impressive, especially if the season goes down as his swan song in the NFL. He started all but two of Miami’s 17 contests, reaching 15 starts for the first time since the 2019 season. But, it’s worth noting that he missed out on a Pro Bowl nod for the first time as a Dolphin.

If Armstead does indeed opt to hang up his jersey and retire from the NFL soon, he will end his career with quite the resume. The 33-year-old spent 12 combined seasons in the league with the New Orleans Saints and Dolphins. Furthermore, the former No. 75 overall pick earned five Pro Bowl selections during his time in the big leagues.

But there is one glaring omission from Armstead’s resume, and that is a Super Bowl victory. He started his career in New Orleans and was part of plenty of playoff runs as a Saint, but New Orleans never advanced past the NFC Championship Game with him on the roster.

The Saints won their only Super Bowl in franchise history in the 2009 season.

Armstead hasn’t gotten any closer to winning the NFL’s ultimate prize during his stint with the Dolphins. Miami hasn’t so much as won a single playoff game since he joined the squad and missed the playoffs a season ago after finishing with a record of 8-9.

Regardless of whether Armstead retires before the start of the 2025 season or is still a member of the Dolphins by the time it starts up, he’s been a staple of the Mike McDaniel era in Miami and should be viewed by fans of the team as such.
