Hall of Fame quarterback says people are ‘cray cray’ if they don’t think Tua Tagovailoa has elite qualities

With Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa working on his third consecutive very strong season, Hall of Fame signal-caller Kurt Warner has a message for his critics.

Warner took to X and claimed that anyone who doesn’t think Tagovailoa has elite anticipation, timing and accuracy is “cray cray.”

Tagovailoa’s 2024 season has been a wild ride due to the concussion he suffered in Week 2, but when he’s been available, he’s been very productive.

Across nine games, he has completed a league-best 73.8 percent of his passes (putting him in the mix to set the all-time NFL record) for 2,456 yards, 17 touchdowns and four interceptions. The Dolphins have gone 5-4 in his starts, so one can only wonder where they’d be if he never suffered his Week 2 concussion. Miami is currently 6-7 overall.

As mentioned, this is really Tagovailoa’s third straight season in which he’s been rock solid. In his first two NFL seasons under former head coach Brian Flores, he was never able to live up to his full potential. But in three seasons under current head coach Mike McDaniel, he has looked more like the player the Dolphins hoped they were drafting in 2020.

In Tagovailoa’s first season under McDaniel, he led the league in passer rating. In his second season under McDaniel, he led the league in total passing yards. This season, he’s got the best completion percentage in football.

Tagovailoa also helped the Dolphins reach the playoffs in each of his first two seasons under McDaniel, and he’s hoping to make it three straight this season. Doing so, however, is going to be a challenge. Miami may need to win out to earn a playoff bid.

The team’s remaining games will come against the Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets. Winning all four games would put the Dolphins at 10-7 on the season, a solid place to be. But there are no guarantees that a 10-7 finish is in the cards.

Tagovailoa will certainly do everything he can to help the team get there, and he’ll look to prove Warner right in the process.
