Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill issued a cryptic message on social media on Wednesday that could foreshadow his NFL future.
It’s also possible that Hill posted the message simply because the Dolphins’ 2024 season is winding down, as they only have five games left in the regular season.
Plus, with the Dolphins sitting at just 5-7 entering their Week 14 matchup with the New York Jets, it’s possible that they won’t make the playoffs.
The 2024 season has been a tough one for Hill, as he’s seen his numbers take a major hit. The absence of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa earlier this season didn’t help.
After finishing each of the last two seasons with over 1,700 receiving yards and having 20 combined touchdown catches across the two campaigns, Hill has just 55 catches for 654 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games this season.
He’s averaging just 54.5 receiving yards per game, the lowest average for the star wideout since his rookie season.
In addition to the dip in production, Hill is also dealing with a wrist injury that has plagued him for quite some time.
Despite that, Hill has not missed a game for the Dolphins, which has helped them stay afloat in the playoff race in the AFC.
Miami is currently the No. 9 seed in the conference and is still behind the Indianapolis Colts (who are also on the outside of the playoff picture) entering Week 14.
Hill did have a solid game on Thanksgiving in the Dolphins’ loss to the Green Bay Packers, as he caught six of his nine targets for 83 yards and a touchdown. The star wideout has found the end zone in three of his last four games, a sign that his season may be turning around.
While Hill’s message on social media may raise some concern for Dolphins fans, it’s too early to tell if he’s actually hinting at his NFL future being done soon. It’s also worth noting that he’s been known to troll.
For now, Hill and the Dolphins are focused on picking up a win against the Jets on Sunday to improve their chances of making the postseason.
