Just a few days after Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill suited up in the team’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, he was not seen participating in Miami’s practice on Wednesday.
As Omar Kelly mentioned, Hill has been dealing with a foot injury for a little while now, but it didn’t seem to hamper him against the Cardinals. In fact, he had one of his better performances of the season in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s return.
He totaled the second-most receiving yards in any game since the start of the 2024 regular season with 72 on six receptions. Hill’s longest reception was also for an impressive 30 yards.
A season ago, Hill could be relied on to rack up 100-plus receiving yards game in and game out, as he averaged a league-high 112.4 per contest. But so far in his third season as a member of the Dolphins, he has reached triple digits in receiving yards just once, and that came all the way back in Miami’s season opener on Sept. 8.
At 2-5, the Dolphins are in desperate need of a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, but Miami’s chances of picking up a victory over the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 3 without Hill seem grim. The Bills have been one of the best teams not only in the AFC East division but the entire AFC as well.
Buffalo is 6-2 on the season and has yet to lose a game at home. It’s of note that Sunday’s matchup will take place at Highmark Stadium too.
With any luck, Hill will start for the Dolphins once again against their divisional rivals. However, if he isn’t feeling up to playing, Miami will need Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane to step up in his absence. The two combined for 95 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown against the Cardinals even with Hill on the field for Miami.
Hill’s injury status is something fans of the Dolphins should monitor as Sunday’s game inches closer and closer.
