Robbie Chosen gets deep following Dolphins release: ‘I wasn’t raised or ever taught to quit’

One day after the Miami Dolphins organization officially released wide receiver Robbie Chosen from its practice squad, the 31-year-old wrote a heartfelt message and uploaded it to Instagram.

The decision to cut ties with Chosen was one of multiple roster moves that the Dolphins announced to the public on Tuesday.

In the 2023 season, Chosen bounced between Miami’s practice squad and active roster. In his opportunities, he totaled 126 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown and three first downs receiving across nine regular-season appearances.

This past offseason, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers but was later released, opening the door for him to return to Miami.

He ultimately saw his second season as a member of the Dolphins get cut short. The former Temple University standout was released by the Dolphins after he played in just two games with the team in the 2024 regular season.

Before his time in Miami came to a close, he totaled five receiving yards on one catch in the team’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 12. In the Dolphins’ season opener versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chosen didn’t register any receptions.

Chosen is far from the oldest player who has suited up for an NFL team this season, but it’s difficult to gauge how much he could help another pro team at this juncture.

It has been years since Chosen last totaled 500-plus receiving yards in a single season. He totaled 519 receiving yards along with five receiving touchdowns during the 2021 regular season, when he played for the Carolina Panthers. The season before that one, he racked up over 1,000 receiving yards.

Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks will mark the Dolphins’ first contest of the 2024 regular season sans Chosen on the field with the team’s offensive unit.

Eight days after Miami takes on Seattle, the team will have a game against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 30. The Dolphins will take on Tennessee at Hard Rock Stadium.
