With the Miami Dolphins’ game against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 12 looming, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel provided injury updates on running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane.
According to McDaniel, Mostert โ who is dealing with a chest injury โ has already been ruled for Miami in Week 2. Achane has an ankle injury, but McDaniel suggested that the 22-year-old might still take the field with the team on Thursday night.
Raheem Mostert won't play Thursday. "DeVon we will see how it plays out," McDaniel said.

McDaniel revealed that Mostert’s injury could potentially be more than a one-week issue.
“He gave his teammates another example of how he’s built differently,” McDaniel said about Mostert playing in Week 1, adding it could be a week or could be a bit longer.
Both Achane and Mostert played in the Dolphins’ season opener versus the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 8, though neither player made a huge impact from a rushing standpoint. The former totaled 24 rushing yards on 10 carries, while the latter finished with nine rushing yards on six carries, which equates to only 1.5 yards per carry.
Granted, not a single running back for the Dolphins starred against Jacksonville. Jeff Wilson Jr. finished with the most rushing yards on the team with only 26, and he also didn’t register a single rushing touchdown.
Mostert and Achane may not have turned heads with their play to start the new season, but both running backs were instrumental components of Miami’s offensive attack last season. Achane ran for 800 yards, eight touchdowns and 30 first downs in his rookie season in the NFL.
As for Mostert, he accumulated a career-high 1,012 rushing yards as well as a league-high 18 rushing touchdowns in 15 games played (all starts).
The Bills also picked up a victory in their first game of the new campaign on Sunday. Buffalo defeated the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 34-28.
The Dolphins beat the Jaguars by three points, but it seemed for most of the game that Miami was primed to lose. After all, the team scored only seven points across the first two quarters of the contest before Miami’s offense found its rhythm in the second half.
Dolphins fans are surely hoping that the team will win its second game in a row on Thursday and improve to 2-0 on the season.
