The Miami Dolphins made a roster move this week, poaching quarterback Cam Miller from the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad.
The North Dakota State University product was “shocked” to be poached by Miami but is very happy to be with the team.
OK, got clarity and new Dolphins QB Cam Miller is signed with Dolphins through 2026. He was shocked to be poached but very happy to be here.

The move gives the Dolphins another young option at the quarterback position as they attempt to figure out their plans for the 2026 season. Miami benched longtime starter Tua Tagovailoa in favor of rookie Quinn Ewers a couple weeks ago, and it’s possible that it’ll move on from the former first-round pick in the offseason.
Miller, who was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has apparently been on the Dolphins’ radar for quite some time.
“We liked him coming out of the draft,” Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith said. “He showed great anticipation, conviction, toughness. He had a really good understanding of their offense, had really good timing and rhythm.”
At North Dakota State, Miller threw for 9,720 yards, 81 touchdowns and just 19 interceptions across five seasons. He was also a threat on the ground, carrying the ball 526 times for 2,277 yards and 48 scores.
In his final collegiate season, Miller threw for 3,251 yards, 33 scores and just four picks while also adding 631 yards and 12 scores on the ground. He’s clearly a dynamic player at the quarterback position, even though he went to a smaller school.
Raiders quarterbacks coach Greg Olson called it “disappointing” to lose Miller to Miami.
“Yeah, disappointing to lose him because we put a lot of time in, and he’s put a lot of time in here as well,” Olson said. “I had a chance talk to him last night before he got on the plane and left, but he’s a hard worker and certainly somebody that we valued here, and it’s hard to lose a guy like that late in the season. But good luck to him, and happy for him.”
Miller has not played a snap in the NFL during the regular season, but the Dolphins seem to think he has potential going forward.
The Dolphins have been eliminated from playoff contention this season, but they showed some fight after a slow start. Last week, Miami knocked off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to move to 7-9, giving Ewers his first win as a starter.
It’s possible that Ewers and Miller will be in the mix for the starting job in Miami in 2026, but Tagovailoa’s future may need to be decided before Miami makes any major moves at quarterback.
The Dolphins take on the New England Patriots in Week 18 with a chance to finish the season 8-9.
