The Miami Dolphins have a lengthy injury report ahead of Thursday’s matchup versus the Buffalo Bills, even if it isn’t as long as it was ahead of the team’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars when 13 players were listed.
A grand total of eight players for the Dolphins — running back Raheem Mostert (chest), wide receiver Malik Washington (quadricep), running back De’Von Achane (ankle), defensive back Elijah Campbell (Achilles), linebacker Jaelan Phillips (Achilles), offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg (shoulder), cornerback Jalen Ramsey (hamstring) and linebacker David Long Jr. (finger) — are listed on the team’s injury report.
Buffalo’s injury report is nearly just as lengthy as Miami’s, though, considering seven Bills — including signal-caller Josh Allen due to an injury with his left hand — are listed.
Both the Dolphins and Bills have started the 2024 regular season on the right foot. The teams each own a record of 1-0 in the new season. Miami picked up a three-point victory over the Jaguars on Sept. 8 after trailing by 10 points at halftime.
As for the Bills, they scored 34 points as a team and beat the Arizona Cardinals by six points in their season opener, which was on Sept. 8 as well.
Thursday won’t be the only time that the Bills and Dolphins face off before the end of the regular season. The two teams will meet again at Highmark Stadium on Nov. 3.
The Dolphins and Bills were two of the best teams in the AFC East division during the 2023 regular season. Both squads finished with 11-6 records, though Buffalo clinched the division because it owned the tiebreaker.
The Bills got the better of the Dolphins both times the two teams faced off. First, on Oct. 1 of last year, the Bills earned a blowout 48-20 victory over Miami. Allen dominated from a passing standpoint, as he totaled 320 passing yards and four passing touchdowns while completing all but four of his 25 passing attempts.
Then, on Jan. 7, the Bills came out on top against Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and company by seven points.
