Miami Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer suggested that he has some inside information on his former team – the Buffalo Bills – ahead of Miami’s matchup with Buffalo on Thursday night in Week 2 of the NFL season.

“So does Poyer have any inside information on nuances in [Josh] Allen’s game that could be useful to his new teammates?” the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson wrote.

“Poyer on Monday suggested he does, before adding ‘they exist on every player. We’ll keep those within the team. Great player. Seen him do crazy things over the years and really excited for my first opportunity to play against him.’”

The Dolphins are looking for a little revenge against Buffalo after it beat Miami in Week 18 of the 2023 season to win the AFC East division.

The loss knocked the Dolphins down in the playoff standings, and they ended up playing the Kansas City Chiefs (who went on to win the Super Bowl) in the first round of the playoffs.

Buffalo picked up a win in Week 1 of the 2024 season, defeating the Arizona Cardinals behind a big game from Allen. The star quarterback threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and he added 39 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground.

Buffalo ended up scoring 34 points in the win over Arizona.

“I’m sure there’s not a whole lot they haven’t seen playing tape,” Poyer said of his new team facing his old squad. “We’ll continue to talk throughout the week.”

The Dolphins put together a strong defensive performance in Week 1 of the 2024 season to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-17.

Miami did not allow a point in the second half, and it held Trevor Lawrence to just 162 yards passing on 21 attempts. In addition to that, the Dolphins forced a key fumble on running back Travis Etienne Jr. as he was about to score a touchdown to extend Jacksonville’s lead.

Poyer played a big role in his first regular season game as a Dolphin, recording six tackles (tied for the second-most on the team).

Allen and the Bills are certainly going to be a tough test for the Dolphins, but it should help having Poyer, who spent several seasons in Buffalo, in the locker room to give the defense some inside tips.

The Dolphins and Bills are scheduled to kick off at 8:15 p.m. EST from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. on Thursday, Sept. 12.
