Tyreek Hill’s unbothered response amid allegations that he ducked race vs. Speed

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has certainly earned his status as one of the fastest players in the NFL, but it remains unclear if he’s faster than popular streamer IShowSpeed after the NFL veteran didn’t race the 19-year-old on Saturday.

IShowSpeed, often referred to simply as Speed, showed up to Miami’s practice on Saturday in hopes of racing Hill. Unfortunately, he came on a day where the wide receiver didn’t participate in practice, preventing Hill from being able to race, according to the eight-time Pro Bowler. Speed was disappointed and accused Hill of ducking the race.

On Sunday, Hill added another layer to the amusing situation with a post on X.

When Hill told Speed on Saturday that he wasn’t going to race him, the streamer accused him of “comin’ up with every other excuse.”

“Tyreek Hill is duckin’,” Speed said. “He’s comin’ up with every other excuse, you feel me, chat? I even pulled up, popped on. He just gon’ keep duckin’, chat. Tyreek Hill, y’all see it right here. Live right now, he’s duckin’. He doesn’t wanna race the fastest person in the world. You just don’t wanna do it, bro.”

As a consolation, Hill did tell Speed that he’d race him a different time, so it’ll be interesting to see if that comes together in the future.

But for now, Hill, who just earned a restructured contract from the Dolphins and was named the No. 1 player in the NFL by his peers, is likely more focused on the upcoming season.

Hill had a phenomenal 2023 season, leading the league in receiving yards (1,799) and receiving touchdowns (13) even while missing a game. He was an electric part of a Miami offense that averaged a whopping 401.3 yards and 29.2 points per game in the regular season.

Unfortunately, Hill and the Dolphins quickly fizzled out in the playoffs, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs on the road in extreme weather conditions. Hill did score a touchdown in the playoff loss but was otherwise held in check, as he finished with 62 receiving yards.

He recently admitted that he was “pissed” after the playoff loss, so he should have no shortage of motivation in the 2024 season to help the Dolphins get some redemption. Miami’s regular-season opener will come on Sept. 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
