Tyreek Hill accused of ducking race vs. Speed: ‘I can’t race you bruh ’cause I ain’t practice today’

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has a lot to be excited about right now, but that’s not going to protect him from allegations that he just ducked a race against popular streamer IShowSpeed.

The story unfolded over the course of a few days this week. Hill spoke about the streamer on Thursday.

“What’s crazy is, the funny story is, I actually invited him (IShowSpeed) out to the practice,” Hill said on Thursday. “I didn’t say I was gonna race him, but I did say I was gonna invite him out to practice, and I told Coach to put him in shoulder pads. I wanted see how he’d do out here with us the whole day, the group of receivers.”

Hill added that IShowSpeed didn’t show up on Thursday. He said he hoped to see the streamer on the next day.

“He didn’t show,” Hill continued. “He did a no-show. … Hopefully, he’ll come tomorrow (Friday). We’ll see.”

IShowSpeed seemingly didn’t show up on Friday either — but he did on Saturday. Unfortunately, he came on a day where Hill didn’t participate in practice.

“I can’t race you bruh ’cause I ain’t practice today,” Hill said to IShowSpeed on Saturday. “If I had practiced today, I coulda raced you. This is in my contract.”

IShowSpeed didn’t seem thrilled with that explanation from Hill. The Dolphins wide receiver offered an alternative.

“How about this,” Hill said. “Wherever you at in the near future, I’ma pull up on you, bro. I’ma take a private jet out to you.”

The two celebrities continued to exchange friendly jabs.

“Tyreek Hill is duckin’,” IShowSpeed said. “He’s comin’ up with every other excuse, you feel me, chat? I even pulled up, popped on. He just gon’ keep duckin’, chat. Tyreek Hill, y’all see it right here. Live right now, he’s duckin’. He doesn’t wanna race the fastest person in the world. You just don’t wanna do it, bro.”

Hill responded.

“Whenever I pull up on you in a full suit and a briefcase — you know what’s in the briefcase — with my shoes on ready to run, you know what time it is, bruh,” said Hill.

Hill is known as one of the fastest players in the NFL — if not the fastest — but IShowSpeed has also earned himself a reputation as a phenomenal athlete, even though he’s known best as a streamer.

It’s an exciting time for Hill, who just secured a restructured deal from the Dolphins and was voted the No. 1 player in the NFL going into the 2024 season.

But he has also had to deal with some less desirable attentionย — and is now being accused of ducking a race.

Regardless, the eight-time Pro Bowler is surely excited for the 2024 season, especially after a 2023 season in which he led the league in receiving yards (1,799), receiving touchdowns (13) and receiving yards per game (112.4).

The Dolphins have had an uneven offseason, losing some key pieces but also adding others, so they’re going to be an interesting team to monitor in the new campaign. Miami is still trying to win a playoff game for the first time in over two decades, and the hope has to be that Hill — a one-time Super Bowl champion — can help the team get over the hump.

Meanwhile, it’s anyone’s guess whether he’ll actually end up racing IShowSpeed, but it seems like it can’t be dismissed.
