Raheem Mostert’s testy exchange with Eagles fan over LeBron and Bronny James

Last month, the Los Angeles Lakers caught the attention of the sports world by drafting Bronny James, the eldest son of franchise superstar LeBron James.

Thanks to the pick, the Lakers will have the ability to send a father-son duo onto the court at times in the 2024-25 season, a reality that many can’t wait to see.

Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert was among those who expressed excitement at L.A.’s draft pick, calling it a “monumental moment.”

However, a Philadelphia Eagles fan seemingly took issue with Mostert’s choice of words.

That sparked a bit of a back-and-forth between the two.

The Lakers’ selection of the younger James has been met with some pushback, as a portion of the sports world feels that the 19-year-old wouldn’t have been selected — by the Lakers, or perhaps by any NBA team — if not for his father.

But the younger James impressed at the 2024 NBA Draft Combine after a rocky season at the University of Southern California, and his predraft work might have reminded some folks of the potential he has.

In his rookie season, the younger James is likely to spend a lot of time in the G League, but one has to imagine that the Lakers will give him a chance to play alongside his father in the NBA at some point during the campaign. After all, there are no guarantees that the elder James will be in the NBA beyond the 2024-25 season.

Even at 39 years old, the elder James remains one of the best players in the league. This past season, he averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game for a Lakers team that made the playoffs but lost in the first round.

He’d certainly love to add another ring to his collection before his NBA career comes to an end, but having an opportunity to play for the same organization as his son has to be the type of accomplishment that he’ll cherish no matter what.

Mostert will clearly enjoy getting a chance to watch the father-son duo, even if some others have mixed emotions.
