Former Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard is under fire after allegedly sending a boy sexually explicit content of his mother.
“Former Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard sent a boy sexually explicit content of his mother because she refused to get an abortion, a new court filing alleges,” the Miami Herald’s Grethel Aguila wrote.
A document filed Thursday by attorneys Cam Justice and Adriana Alcalde in Broward Circuit Court is asking that the boy – who was a minor at the time – be allowed to sue the free agent cornerback. Howard is already facing an ongoing case for allegedly sharing sex videos without consent.
Back in May 2023, Howard was sued by a woman who discovered that Howard apparently took sexually explicit videos of her and shared them with other people. Howard’s attorneys have tried to have the case thrown out, sharing that the woman asked the four-time Pro Bowler for a multimillion dollar payout.
“In the Thursday filing, attorneys stated that Howard operated ‘by intimidation and force’ and has engaged in ‘a similar pattern of conduct’ with several people,” Aguila wrote.
The boy who is now looking to be added to the suit against Howard is the son of a woman that the former Dolphins star had a previous relationship with.
“When the boy’s mother got pregnant around September 2022, Howard demanded she have an abortion,” Aguila wrote. “She refused.
“That’s when, attorneys allege, Howard ‘went on a warpath against her.’ Seeking revenge, Howard texted the boy sexually explicit photos of his mother, ‘causing significant emotional distress,’ the lawsuit states.
“‘This behavior is abhorrent, especially sending this to a child,’ Alcalde told the Miami Herald.”
According to the court documents, the mother deleted the messages from her son’s phone, but he uncovered them on his iCloud account.
“Howard’s conduct was outrageous, went beyond all boundaries of decency, and it is and was regarded as odious and utterly intolerable in a civilized community,” the filing read.
Legal action was taken by the woman against Howard because she doesn’t want the content being shared with others.
This is certainly a troubling scenario for Howard, who might have just jeopardized his chances of landing with a new NFL team this offseason by getting into more legal issues.
The Dolphins moved on from Howard this offseason to open up cap room despite him having three years left on a five-year contract.
Howard was a star for the Dolphins, recording 29 interceptions during his time with the franchise. A second-round pick by Miami in the 2016 NFL Draft, Howard has made multiple All-Pro teams in his NFL career.
Despite his play on the field, the veteran cornerback has faced a litany of cases against him including paternity, domestic violence and assault and battery cases.
It’ll be interesting to see if an NFL team is willing to take a shot on him ahead of the 2024 season despite the allegations he’s currently facing.
