Report: Miami Dolphins met with ‘draft diamond’ RB ahead of 2024 NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins reportedly are among the teams that met with Brigham Young University running back Aidan Robbins ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Considered a “draft diamond,” Robbins reportedly has also met with the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.

Prior to his first season at BYU, Robbins was described as a “booming downhill back that punishes arm tacklers” and considered to have “high upside as a pass blocker due to his play strength and frame,” according to Pro Football Network’s Ian Valentino.

After beginning his college career at University of Louisville, where he appeared in just 11 games in two seasons, Robbins transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for the 2022 season.

He had a breakout season for the Runnin’ Rebels, rushing for 1,009 yards in 11 games. He also scored nine rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in the 2022 season.

Robbins decided to move to BYU in the 2023 season, and he played well across eight games for the Cougars. Robbins carried the ball 101 times for 485 yards and one touchdown. He also caught seven passes for 33 yards.

A bigger running back that is listed at 240 pounds, Robbins could be a great complementary player to Miami speedsters like De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert in the backfield.

With Achane dealing with injuries during his rookie season, the Dolphins may want to add more depth at the running back position, especially since Mostert is going to be 32 years old by the time the 2024 NFL season starts.

In Valentino’s scouting report of Robbins, he compared him to Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry because of his size that makes him hard for defensive backs to bring down.

While the Dolphins have a ton of speed in all facets of their offense, adding a player like Robbins could bring a new dynamic to Mike McDaniel’s squad. Miami has picks in the first, second, fifth, sixth (two picks) and seventh round in the 2024 NFL Draft.

It’ll be interesting to see if Robbins is available for the Dolphins to snatch up during the draft.
