Report: Tennessee Titans take step toward potentially stealing away key member of Miami Dolphins organization

The Miami Dolphins reportedly could be in danger of losing a member of their coaching staff, with the Tennessee Titans requesting to interview associate head coach Eric Studesville.

The longtime NFL assistant also has the role of running backs coach on the Dolphins staff under head coach Mike McDaniel.

Studesville and new Titans head coach Brian Callahan worked together with the Denver Broncos.

Studesville left the Broncos and joined the Dolphins in 2018 under then-head coach Adam Gase. He then remained on the Miami staff under Brian Flores. McDaniel replaced Flores prior to the 2022 NFL season, and Studesville was given his updated titles.

He was the running backs coach for the Broncos when they won the Super Bowl in the 2015 NFL season. Callahan was an offensive assistant on the staff under head coach Gary Kubiak with Peyton Manning at quarterback.

This season, Raheem Mostert became the fourth running back to earn a Pro Bowl selection under Studesville’s coaching. The 31-year-old was given the honor for the first time after rushing for 1,012 yards and scoring 21 total touchdowns. It was the well-traveled veteran’s first 1,000-yard rushing season.

Tennessee is building a new staff under Callahan. The former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator was hired to replace Mike Vrabel, who was let go recently.

Coincidentally, the Titans handed the Dolphins one of their most significant losses of the season when Miami blew a fourth-quarter lead in a Week 14 defeat. Will Levis led the Titans’ rally and looks to be their quarterback heading into next season, but Studesville probably wouldn’t also get to coach running back Derrick Henry, who is likely to be moving on elsewhere.

Tennessee reportedly also plans to interview Jacksonville Jaguars passing game coordinator Nick Holz for its offensive coordinator position.

The Dolphins also are in the market for an important assistant coach. They are currently searching for a new defensive coordinator after parting ways with Vic Fangio after just one season.

Former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley reportedly seems to be in the mix for the position, and the Dolphins reportedly have requested to interview Buffalo Bills linebackers coach Bobby Babich.
