Report: Miami Dolphins work out numerous players ahead of huge regular season finale vs. Buffalo Bills

The Miami Dolphins reportedly worked out several players in advance of their showdown with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night that will decide the AFC East title.

Dealing with injuries on both sides of the ball, the Dolphins looked at defensive tackle Isaac Alarcon, defensive end T.J. Carter, wide receiver Gavin Holmes, defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon, offensive guard Jason Poe, wide receiver Matthew Sexton and offensive tackle B.J. Wilson.

Of those players, none have appeared in an NFL game this season. In fact, only two have previous experience in the league: Carter appeared in two games for the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, and Nixon played in 14 games over the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers.

Miami is coming off a 56-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday that eliminated the Dolphins from earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC and also prevented them from wrapping up their division. They now must defeat the Bills at home on Sunday to claim their first division title since the 2008 season.

The Dolphins also came out of the game against the Ravens with harsh injury news. Bradley Chubb, who leads the team with 11 sacks, was deemed out for the season after suffering a torn ACL. What made the injury even more devastating was that it came in the late stages of a lopsided loss.

In addition, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa injured his shoulder in the fourth quarter, and cornerback Xavien Howard left the contest with an injured foot. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said he is “not really worried” about Tagovailoa’s injury but he is not planning on Howard to be able to play against the Bills.

Miami was already without wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (ankle), running back Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) and guard Robert Hunt (hamstring), who were declared inactive for the game this past Sunday.

There has been no word as of yet if the Dolphins have any interest in running back Dalvin Cook, a rumored player of interest this past offseason who was let go by the New York Jets on Tuesday.

The Dolphins’ transactions and injury report this week will ultimately reveal their roster plans and any possible newcomers for the biggest game of the season.
