Report: Miami Dolphins optimistic Tyreek Hill will play vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Miami Dolphins reportedly are optimistic that star receiver Tyreek Hill will play on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Hill missed the team’s Week 15 win over the New York Jets with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

“The Miami Dolphins are optimistic that star wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be able to play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday,” ESPN reported.

While Hill seems to be trending in the right direction, Miami isn’t rushing to make a decision on his status. Hill was a limited participant in practice this week.

“The Dolphins will wait to see how Hill feels Sunday before making their decision,” reported ESPN.

If Hill can suit up, it would be a massive boost to the Dolphins’ offense against a tough Dallas team. The Cowboys are coming off of a loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, but they are currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC.

This season, Hill has been arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. The speedster has caught 97 of his 132 targets, turning them into 1,542 receiving yards (which leads the NFL) and 12 receiving touchdowns (also leads the NFL). He’s done that despite missing one game.

The Dolphins are the No. 2 seed in the AFC entering Sunday’s NFL action, and the team needs Hill to be healthy for a playoff run.

Miami has a brutal schedule to finish out the regular season, taking on the Cowboys in Week 16, Baltimore Ravens (No. 1 seed in the AFC) in Week 17 and Buffalo Bills in Week 18. The Dolphins lost their first meeting with the Bills this season.

If Hill is forced to sit – or is limited – Jaylen Waddle would likely be the top target for the Dolphins in the passing game. Waddle registered eight catches for 142 yards and one score against the Jets in Week 15.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has played well this season – including last week without Hill – but there’s no doubt he’s even more lethal when he has the speedy wideout in the lineup.

The Dolphins and Cowboys are scheduled to kick off at 4:25 p.m. EST.
