Report: Miami Dolphins list 9 players as questionable or doubtful for game vs. New York Jets

The Miami Dolphins have quite a few players whose statuses are uncertain heading into the team’s Black Friday matchup with the New York Jets.

On their final injury report before the contest, the Dolphins have nine different players listed as either questionable or doubtful.

Offensive lineman Robert Jones is the only player listed as doubtful, while the following eight players have questionable designations: running back De’Von Achane, offensive tackle Terron Armstead, wide receiver Chase Claypool, guard Lester Cotton, offensive linemen Rob Hunt and Austin Jackson, fullback Alec Ingold and tight end Durham Smythe.

The good news for the Dolphins is that all of the players on their injury report participated in practice on Thursday (even if they were limited). As a result, there should be some optimism that many of them will be available for game action.

After pulling out a 20-13 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, the Dolphins will be looking for their second straight win in the game against the Jets. They will also be looking to build their lead atop the AFC East. Heading into the game, Miami sits in first place in the division with a record of 7-3, while the Jets are third in the division at 4-6.

Regardless of who is ultimately available to participate in the contest, a major focus of Miami’s game plan should be pressuring the quarterback. The Jets are dealing with a plethora of injury issues to offensive linemen, and on top of that, they plan to start a new quarterback on Friday.

Tim Boyle will be making his first start of the season against Miami, and the Dolphins defense should aim to make life as difficult as possible for him.

Boyle doesn’t have a lot of NFL experience under his belt. In fact, he’s only started in three games in his career, and those starts came back in the 2021 season when he was a member of the Detroit Lions. If the Dolphins are able to overwhelm New York’s offensive line and put consistent pressure on Boyle, he could make some costly mistakes.

The game between the Jets and Dolphins will take place at MetLife Stadium and is set to kick off Friday at 3 p.m. It’s the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
