Report: Miami Dolphins receive positive injury news ahead of showdown vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Miami Dolphins’ battle with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday is expected to deliver fireworks, particularly because they are two of the top teams in the league entering Week 7.

Coming into the game, the Dolphins have gotten a mixed bag of updates about their roster. But there appears to be a piece of good news to note, as Alec Ingold, who has been listed as questionable due to a foot injury, is expected to suit up.

Hopefully, if Ingold does play, he is healthy enough to provide Miami’s offense with a boost. He hasn’t missed a game yet this season.

This is the 27-year-old fullback’s second season with the Dolphins. He was signed by the Oakland Raiders (known today as the Las Vegas Raiders) as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and played for the franchise for three seasons before joining Miami in 2022.

The Dolphins front office liked him enough to give him a contract extension this past offseason that will keep him with the team through the 2026 campaign.

The University of Wisconsin product had a solid first year with the Dolphins, playing all 17 games during the 2022 regular season while starting 14 of them. He also tallied one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown.

In the 2023 campaign, he has appeared in six matches. With or without Ingold, Miami will be looking to bring it against Philadelphia. Both squads sport 5-1 records and are two of the remaining five teams that have just one loss.

Moreover, the Dolphins-Eagles bout will also feature the first NFL matchup between Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts, two quarterbacks whose football careers have crossed paths before.

Both played for the University of Alabama at the same time, with Tagovailoa replacing Hurts as the program’s starting quarterback at one point. Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma for one season before declaring for the NFL draft at the same time as Tagovailoa. As fans know, the Hawaii native was the 2020 draft’s No. 5 pick, while Hurts slid to the second round.

So far, Hurts has had the more successful NFL tenure, having led Philadelphia to a Super Bowl appearance. But Tagovailoa is catching up, as he currently leads the league in passing yards and touchdown passes this season.
